Hummingbird
Wings out. Beak to the flower.
This hummingbird is caught beside a flower, with its wings spread and long beak reaching forward. The bird, flower and timber-mounting spike form one steel silhouette. It is inspired by a bird from the Americas, rather than a native UK garden visitor. Put it where you can enjoy that shape against a clear background.
Steel that changes with the seasons
Corten is unpainted weathering steel. Outdoors, its surface develops a rust-coloured patina. Colour and timing depend on the weather and exposure. The dark finish in a photograph is not a permanent painted colour. Allow for rusty runoff, which can mark pale paving, pots and nearby surfaces.
Choose a perch. Tap it in.
Choose sound, solid timber with room around the silhouette. Hold the branch firmly and tap the thick end of the integrated mounting spike into the wood with a hammer or mallet until secure. Avoid striking the bird itself. Hard timber may need a pilot hole. Use a fence post or wooden planter if you do not want to fit it to a living tree; check our tree-care guidance before using a living tree.
Packed flat. Someone in mind.
Choose a bird for someone who will enjoy finding it a place. One Hummingbird silhouette in a flat gift box, approximately 30 × 21 × 1 cm.
