MEET THE BIRD

The shape of a familiar song.

Blackbirds have a rich, varied song that makes them familiar company in British gardens. Often, it is the sound that makes you look up from whatever you were doing.

This one is made for the looking. A clean steel profile, a leafy branch and a stance you will recognise. Give it a clear background on a solid wooden post, then enjoy that small moment of recognition whenever you pass.

MADE FOR OUTDOORS

Steel that changes with the seasons

Yes, the steel changes colour. Corten is weathering steel: outdoors it develops a rust-coloured patina that gives the surface its character. The colour and speed of change depend on the weather and exposure.

The finish is meant to change. Avoid placing it where rust run-off could mark pale paving or other surfaces.

INSTALLATION

Choose a perch. Tap it in.

Choose a solid wooden post, fence or timber planter. Position the integrated mounting spike against the timber and tap it in gently with a hammer until the silhouette sits securely. Avoid striking the bird itself.

Choose a position you have permission to use. Keep pointed parts out of children’s reach.

Frequently asked questions

Does the Blackbird have an orange beak?

No. This is a cut-steel silhouette, not a painted or full-colour model. The whole piece changes towards a rust-coloured patina as it weathers.

Is this a flat silhouette or a 3D model?

It is cut from flat Corten steel. The photographs show the profile and integrated mounting spike.

Where should I install it?

Choose solid timber, such as a wooden fence post or planter. Check the view and leave room for the full silhouette before tapping the spike into place.

Will it stay the same colour?

No. Outdoors, Corten steel develops a rust-coloured patina. Exposure affects the colour and rate of change. Avoid placing it where rust run-off could mark pale surfaces.
