How much does shipping cost?

(What you pay, why it costs that, and where it goes)

We don’t mark up shipping. What you pay at checkout is what the courier charges us — sometimes a bit less, depending on the order. We’re not trying to profit on postage, just get your bird to you quickly and safely without surprises.

Flat Rate Shipping:

  • UK-wide: £3.99 GBP per order

  • Free Standard Shipping on orders over £75 GBP

International Shipping

We don't ship globally from the UK, but international shipping can be achieved from outside the UK. If you have friends and family overseas that you want to send the best gift they'll ever receive, please check out your local Metalbird site for regional bird designs:

How long does shipping take?

We ship all orders with Royal Mail straight from our UK fulfilment hub. We aim to dispatch same-day if you order before 12 noon, Monday to Friday.

Standard delivery times after dispatch:

  • Most areas: 1–2 business days

You’ll get a tracking email as soon as it ships.

If it’s been more than 3 business days and you haven’t seen an update, check your spam folder — or reach out via live chat (if we’re online) or leave us a message through the "Digital Wingman" website chatbot.

We aim to deliver fast, but once the package is with the courier, final timing is out of our hands. Weather, peak season volume, or local disruptions can cause short delays.

Where do you ship from?

All UK orders ship from our warehouse in Leighton Buzzard.
It’s a tight, efficient operation — not a massive warehouse, but big enough to keep birds moving. From here, we ship to throughout the UK using the Royal Mail network.

Our warehouse ships orders Monday through Friday, excluding public holidays.

If you’re outside the UK, you’ll want to use your local Metalbird store (like metalbird.co.nz, metalbird.com, metalbird.eu/.fr/.nl, metalbird.com.au, or metalbird.ca) for faster, cheaper delivery and better regional service. They also have different collections of birds that nest in their country.

Do you offer express shipping?

Not exactly — we use the very well-respected Royal Mail as our freight partners. Their published delivery times from dispatch follow: 

England (Local & Nearby) 1-2 days
England (Other Regions) 2-3 days
Scotland (Major Cities) 2-3 days
Scotland (Highlands & Islands) 3-5 days
Wales 2-3 days
Northern Ireland 2-4 days
Isle of Man / Channel Islands 3-5 days


As we come close to Christmas, we will try to find an Express service as an alternative.

If you’re up against a deadline (like a birthday or memorial), email us or use the our Digital Wingman chat to confirm whether we can meet it. We genuinely try to bend over backwards to help, so please try your luck.

We’re fast — but not magic. Best to order early when you can.

Can I ship to multiple addresses?

Unfortunately, no. Each order can only be shipped to one address at a time.

If you’re sending gifts to different people in different places, you’ll need to place separate orders — one for each shipping address.

We know it’s not ideal if you’re sending a whole flock, but this helps keep our packing and tracking accurate, and ensures each bird gets where it’s supposed to go without confusion.

Do you ship to PO boxes?

Yes — but it’s not our favorite method.
Technically, Royal Mail does deliver to PO Boxes, but in reality, it can be slow or unreliable depending on the area. This tends to freak out the system sometimes!

If you’re able, we strongly recommend using a street address.
Birds belong in trees, not limbo.

If a PO Box is your only option, we’ll do our best — but please keep in mind that delivery may take a little longer, and tracking may be patchy.

Do you ship Internationally?

Can I Send a Metalbird to Someone Overseas?

Yes...but not from this website. For sending outside the UK, you’ll usually get a better, faster deal by ordering from one of our local Metalbird stores.

Each region has its own website, local warehouse, and regionally relevant collections — meaning you’ll find birds there that aren’t available on the UK site. Shipping is faster, taxes are handled, and the experience is smoother.
