Description

An early bird with a whole lot of charm.

Whether it’s after rain or just before sunset, there’s something comforting about the presence of a Blackbird in the garden. With its iconic orange beak and friendly nature, the Blackbird is one of Britain’s most recognisable — and cheerful — garden birds.

Our silhouette captures its stance perfectly, hopping along a garden post or planter edge. Add a little songbird spirit to your outdoor space with this handmade piece of metal art.

Let your blackbird settle where it belongs.

    1. Pick a prominent perch like a raised garden bed, wooden post or gate.
    2. Hold the bird at a downward angle to mimic natural posture.
    3. Tap the stake in slowly using a mallet or hammer.
    4. Test it for wobble and adjust until it’s firmly in place.
    5. Enjoy it among flowers or foliage where it’ll feel right at home.

Top Tip: For installations into very dry or aged wood, lightly moisten the timber before hammering.

Why is the male blackbird black and the female brown?
It’s a natural camouflage adaptation — the female’s brown tones help hide her while nesting.

    Will it attract real blackbirds?
It won’t act as a decoy, but it definitely won’t scare them off. Many birds are curious!

Is it suitable for all seasons?
Yes — Corten steel is ideal for the UK’s changing weather and only looks better with time.

Can I move it once installed?
Yes, just pull out gently and reinsert elsewhere. It’s designed to last through relocations.

    What does the blackbird symbolise?
Often associated with joy, creativity, and morning songs — a classic symbol of comfort.

Each Metalbird is crafted from Corten® Steel, a premium, weathering steel made to last.

When it meets the elements, it doesn’t rust like your old BBQ. It transforms.

That change you’re seeing? That’s patina. A tough, protective outer layer that seals the steel, adds character, and preserves your bird for decades.

This isn’t paint. It’s nature’s way of ageing gracefully.

    The Patina Process:

At first, you’ll notice bright orange spots (we call this the teenage phase). Soon enough, the whole bird will turn a bold orange, slowly shifting into deep burnt umber. Eventually, it settles into a moody charcoal that feels like it’s always belonged.

The Result? A piece of industrial art with a heartbeat. No peeling, no fading, just a bird that gets better with age.

what’s the word on the bird?
